The Broken Protocol
I was watching So You Think You Can Dance last night -strike one- and I said to myself, "that's a very nice dress Cat Deely is wearing". -strike two-
I'm not out so to speak, but I'm not in either. I'm a very heterosexual male. I'm also not homophobic which is why I can enjoy shows like Project Runway, What Not To Wear, and the above mentioned So You Think You Can Dance (I think Dominic Sandoval is going to win). I can shop at Express and not like the NFL. I can drink sake and other wines and not like beer. I can be a fan of Brad Pitt and David Beckham and I can spend an hour in the bathroom grooming and not think twice about it. I can moisturize and dance to Daft Punk and Justin Timberlake's Summer Love alone in my car, and I'm just as straight as the next fellow. . .metrosexual.
Well, I was having a promotion-celebration lunch today with my Aunt at Hooters. I'm sure every guy says or thinks that the server was flirting with them, hey its their job to flirt. There is a line and I'm no fool. . .but Sabrina was giving me some play. No my type. She was cute but a little too Southern Belle-ish for mytasty taste. My Aunt, who is pretty well off, asks me when I was last at Old Navy, (her husband and I share a similar fashion sense) which was only a few days ago returning a belt that was too big. She suggests we go and pick some things out for Brandon Todd, the Uncle, for their upcoming trip to Chattanooga.
Walking down the strip we talk about Express and how hard the men's stores are hard to find, how she wishes an H&M was in town and we talked about my style of dress. "Yeah, not everyone can wear Express, you have to have the build for it. Like you, you're slim. Oh, there is this place I want to take you to, they have nice things that you will look nice in so I think you will like [gay/they] clothes." After a pause I laughed loudly and sarcastically. She corrected herself and said "their clothes".
Even my own family.
Aside from that it was a very nice outing. We racked up her credit card and went on our own unexpected spree (not at Old Navy). I got some very nice shoes from PacSunthat I can't wait to wearafter i do something about my legs, and a few shirts I am extremely proud about.
I'm breaking the male Protocol, I'm not a pioneer. There are others that came before me, but there is no me.
Menomena[!] and Hot Hot Heat[!] are oldies but goodies. The Jai-Alai Savant is simply amazing and Circa Survive isa little way better than I thought.
ttfn peace
