The Golden Rule
Fall Out Boy's song is stirring. The powerful piano notes, the voice, the tone. Perfect for now, the right now.
How cruel is the golden rule,
When the lives we lived are only golden plated.
And I knew that the lights of the city were too heavy for me,
Though I carried karats for everyone to see.
And I saw God cry in the reflection of my enemies,
And all the lovers with no time for me,
And all the mothers raise their babies to stay away from me.
Tongues on the sockets of electric dreams,
When the sewage of youth drowned the spark of my teens.
And I knew that the lights of the city were too heavy for me,
Though I carried karats for everyone to see.
And I saw God cry in the reflection of my enemies,
And all the lovers with no time for me,
And all the mothers raise their babies to stay away from me,
And pray they don't grow up to be.
_When you type in my blog in the address bar...burningstar7.blogspot.com, you may ask yourself what is Burning Star? What does this mean to him? 7? What is up with this? Or maybe not. I want to explain that. Burning Star kind of came from Coheed & Cambria, but I put my own interpretation to it. I ruined things, friendships and relationships because of my flaws or whatever you want to call it, dishonesty. And those friends have a perspective of dislike and distrust for me and in human nature they are justified. I don't blame them but I'm also over beating myself up over that. Maybe its also time to forgive and let go and maybe not, I'm not the one to say when its time, its when they are comfortable. But the Burning Star is what I want to be for them. They may be going through their own issues and being the person I am I want to call, help and give advice. I want their lives to be happy. So when its a cold dark night, they feel hopeless and want to run away...literaly...run away, they can look up and see a star, like the north star was used as navigation for early sailors. I'm not a hero, I cant make everything better but I am a friend for you. For all of you and you know that. I'm always going to be here. So Golden by Fall Out Boy is kind of the epitome of this post, its all in how you interpret it. Treat others the way you want to be treated. But, if you make a mistake which we all do...you are looked at like a fake, an imitation. Golden plated. Friends, you all are precious to me and I care. I'm polishing up, Midas and I are in talks. We are negotiating. I'm also speaking with a few alchemists. Seriously though...don't run. See me, I'm Burning for you, all of you. I'll do anything for you. Flee not._

Well, here we are Todd, life has happened, no one pressed pause....things keep going whether we have time to analyze them or not, but we keep analyzing anyway. Truth is, on my part, our friendship was one of the most honest i'd ever had and I loved that about it. I liked that we could support and build eachother up through whatever it may have been. You know what happened, it was like someone turned the lights out and there you were, trying to find your way in the dark and no one was around. You had to feel, touch, search for that light, and once it was on, you had to deal with the aftermath you had caused while searching. Who know's how long those lights had been out.
I miss our friendship Todd, but I really don't know what's left. I don't know who I knew and what you did and didn't tell me. Not that I had to know every detail of what was going on, but it's your life and me being a friend, would have like to have been important enough to trust, to know whatever it is I didn't and did and STILL have been your friend.
I'm here Todd, I haven't left. Someone just pressed pause on our friendship and someone's got to figure out where we left off and if they want to press play again. This time, reality and honesty included, those, and a new start.
