The Overwhelming Ocean

The Overwhelming Ocean

I woke up to a missed call from a number I didn't recognize. I'm thinking it was someone who called the wrong number. I hope it wasn't an emergency, it was placed around 3:00am. I hate it when that happens.

Another weekend of shopping. I wonder if I look single when I go out. Anyway, I stopped by the Gap and bought several international city themed t-shirts for lounging. Tokyo, Bombay, and Paris are my favorites. By the by, Japan is on my list of destinations along with France. As soon as I save up enough and find someone to accompany me I will be sure to make the trip across the overwhelming ocean.

I also bought a belt, couple of pair of khakis for work, and more jeans, you can never have enough jeans. I still haven't worn either pair of shoes I bought last weekend, but still I bought two more. I think of the video I Like Shoes on the LOGO network. Its pretty funny and very gay, but that was the point I guess. I'm really not a shoe person but my closet is beginning to appear that I am.

I made another purchace purely on impulse. I strolled into Best Buy to check out the new releases from Tuesday and nothing really caught my eye. I remembered the headphones I bought last week sound like crap so I went to look at their selection. I ended up buying a pair of Shure earphones for $100. Idiot. I hope they live up to what the sales associate bragged about, and so far I'm not dissapointed. They sound great and are extremely comfortable.

Oh yeah, I went to see Live Free or Die Hard, or Die Hard 4 with some guys from work. The Mac guy was riding shotgun most of the movie and surprisingly reprised his role as a computer geek. The film was not as bad as I thought it would be, but the company was.

Fire When Ready's song They Call Her Echo is great. Their album As The Sky Stared Down With Angry Clouds is full of them.

I'm just curious, what does single look like?

Good question. I was once described as unapproachable which I didn't understand. This person elaborated saying that I appeared to concentrate on what I was doing and not on others around me and that made it seem as if I wasn't single. She also said my appearance can intimidate a few people, thinking I was out of their league.

I don't agree with any of those comments though. I think I can be flirtatious and inviting in my own way, but somewhat picky on who I engage. I believe I appear as carefree and open for a conversation or just a smile. The quick glance and the second look, the 'lazy eye' and subtle clues as to say 'I'm available' looks single...I think.

When I first moved down here I was told that people down here will automatically percieve me as rude because I'm from "the north" and I don't talk to strangers in public. First impressions are weird, and usually far from accurate.
